This Statement is limited to information collected as described above. It does not apply once you leave our website — including third-party sites where our advertisements appear, or linked sites we do not operate or control. Please read the privacy statements of those third-party sites separately.

How We Use Your Information
We always treat Your Information as confidential, use good practices to keep it secure, and otherwise abide by relevant data protection and privacy laws. Your information is only used in relation to the marathon, most commonly:
Where we need to perform the contract we are about to enter into, or have entered into, with you upon registering for the event.
Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party), and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.
Where we need to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
Contact us at secretariat@nairobimarathon.com to find out more about the lawful basis we rely on to process your personal data.
05
Disclosing Your Information
We may need to disclose Your Information to more than one company within the Standard Chartered Bank Group and to our agents, advisors, and third-party service providers ("Other Parties"). We require Other Parties to handle Your Information with the same level of care that we apply, and only according to our instructions. Where Other Parties are overseas, Your Information may be sent to a country with weaker privacy laws than your own. By way of example, Your Information may be disclosed to:
Internal teams administering, promoting, and running the marathon, and dealing with sponsors, suppliers, and participants.
Agents, advisors, and service providers acting as processors for entry management, timing, photos and videos, data analysis, and results publication, under a duty of confidentiality.
Regulators, supervisors, governments, anti-money laundering, and fraud prevention agencies where necessary.
Third-party athletic bodies, including World Marathon Majors LLC (to validate Six Star Finisher status and operate the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group rankings), and World Athletics / Athletics Kenya (to populate the Power of 10 ranking system).
Broadcasters covering our events, and media outlets where there is a human-interest story about your participation.
Third parties you've separately consented to – for example, hotel groups regarding event accommodation.
We retain Your Information for as long as the purpose for which we collected it continues, and it is then destroyed unless further retention is required to satisfy a legal, regulatory, or accounting requirement, or to protect our interests.
The internet is not a fully secure form of communication, and information you send may be transmitted internationally through countries with weaker data protection laws. We do not accept responsibility or liability for the confidentiality, security, or integrity of Your Information during transmission over the internet. We reserve the right to monitor internet communications into and out of our domains to maintain system security and prevent or detect unauthorised activity.
